History
In 1902, an order was given for the construction of a villa that would later be known as “Huize Stella”. The house that was still owned by Pierre van Lisdonk at the time was purchased by Frits van Puijenbroek in 1918.
Noble
Allure
Frits was a salesman for the textile factory and met the Belarusian Stella Ionescu-Dimitriu on a trip to Romania. Frits brought Stella along, but getting married was not so easy. Stella no longer had papers showing that she was a Roman Catholic. Only after Frits promised to leave Huize Stella, named after his lover, to the church, was the marriage consummated.
Stella was an eccentric woman with noble allure and a love for flowers and color. Together with her dogs, she became a familiar and popular face in Goirle.

Honorable restored
“Huize Stella” is still a well-known building in Goirle and the surrounding area, mainly because the house, which was built in Jugendstil, is so well preserved. In 2018, Marleen saw that the house where she had played as a small child was for sale and took immediate action. In the end, she managed to convince the municipality that a thorough renovation to start a hotel in it was a good destination and the renovation started in early 2019.
After a long period of renovation that has restored many old details, the building is now finished and renamed “Stella Suites”. Inside, the beautiful old entrance and special details such as stained glass windows are combined with contemporary design and a luxurious finish. A special and unique boutique hotel that once again gives color to the building.
